Within the 29th Music Summer in Slavonski Brod, Ensemble for early music -“Minstrel” performed several Renaissance and Baroque compositions by Giovanni Girolamo Kapsperger, Salamone Rossi and Bartolomeo Tromboncino at the Franciscan Monastery of St. Trinity.

 

Some of older city music lovers remember an amateur group of enthusiasts for the early music, founded by Dr. Kruno Martinac in 1970’s, while the editor of this portal and author of the text PhD. Vesna Srnic has played for several years block flutes (soprano, alt, tenor) in a junior ensemble of renowned Igor Pomikalo called Universitas Studiorum Zagrabiensis, performing at the famous Zagreb Lapidarium in the upper town.

The Zagreb Ensemble “Minstrel” performs sacral and secular compositions of the Middle Ages, Renaissance and Baroque, and acts as an educator in the field of Early Music. The ensemble musicians are: Goran Grčić – tenor, Nenad Kosak – tenor, Ante Beno – block flute, viola da gamba, zink, Lada Magdalenić Morpurgo – vielle, baroque violin, Sandra Munić – harp, viola da gamba, Lea Sušanj Lujo – viola da gamba, baroque cello and Darko Karajić – theorbo, lute.
Artistic conductor of the ensemble is Ante Beno.
